Schluter System
Certified Schluter Installer
Tile is not waterproof. Grout is not waterproof. Cement board is not waterproof.
The only thing standing between a hot shower and the framing inside your wall is the waterproofing layer behind the tile. If that layer is done wrong — or skipped, which happens more than homeowners realize — the tile will look perfect for two or three years while the wall behind it quietly rots.
We have been certified by Schluter Systems since November 2020, in four separate systems:
- Kerdi — shower waterproofing membrane and board
- Ditra — uncoupling membrane for floors
- Ditra-Heat — heated floor systems
- Profiles — edge, transition and trim systems
We also hold a course completion certificate in the Interior Installation of Gauged Porcelain Tile Panels and Slabs.
How the shower system works
- Kerdi-Board replaces cement board as the substrate. It is waterproof itself, not just water-resistant.
- Kerdi membrane bonds over the board, and every seam, corner and change of plane gets sealed with banding.
- Kerdi-Drain and shower trays integrate with the membrane so waterproofing is continuous from the wall to the drain.
- Niches and benches are built as part of the waterproofed assembly, not cut into it afterward.
Our bathroom waterproofing carries a lifetime warranty.
The photos on this page are our own work in progress. That orange board is what your shower looks like before the tile covers it forever. It is the part you pay for and never see again, and it is the part that decides whether your shower is still sound in fifteen years.
