Fireplace Tile & Surrounds

A fireplace is the one wall in a living room that everybody looks at. It is also the one that has to handle heat, which rules out some materials and changes how others get installed.

We build surrounds and hearths in tile, natural stone and thin brick.

What we do

• Full surrounds, floor to ceiling or to a mantel line
• Hearths in brick, stone and large format tile
• Herringbone and pattern work inside the firebox opening
• Thin brick veneer, including reclaimed brick
• Trim and edge detail where tile meets drywall, wood or mantel

Most of the fireplaces we work on are electric. If yours is gas, we bring in a licensed gas technician for that portion and coordinate the schedule around it.

The detail that separates a good fireplace from an average one is usually the edge: how the tile terminates against the wall, how the hearth meets the floor, whether the pattern lines up across the opening. That is layout work, and it happens before anything gets set.
